New Delhi: In a proud moment for NTPC Limited, NTPC Dadri has been recognized for achieving the highest biomass co-firing among thermal power plants in FY 2024–25. The award was presented at the National Biomass Conference on ABC (Accelerating Biomass Co-firing), organized by SAMARTH – the National Mission on the Use of Biomass in Thermal Power Plants.

The prestigious award was handed over by Mr Pankaj Agarwal, Hon’ble Secretary of Power, to Mr K. Chandramouli, Executive Director & Head of Project, NTPC Dadri. The ceremony was graced by Mr Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC.

A Milestone in Sustainable Energy Initiatives
This award highlights NTPC Dadri’s leadership in adopting environmentally responsible practices by integrating biomass co-firing into its operations. The plant has consistently demonstrated operational excellence and a proactive approach to cleaner energy, aligning with India’s broader climate goals.

Biomass co-firing involves substituting a portion of coal with agricultural residues or biomass pellets, reducing carbon emissions and supporting rural economies by creating demand for agricultural waste.

Reinforcing NTPC’s Green Commitment
Speaking at the event, NTPC leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the use of biomass in thermal power generation, emphasizing its role in the company’s long-term sustainability strategy. The recognition further strengthens NTPC’s position as a pioneer in green energy transitions within the conventional power sector.

NTPC has been actively supporting the Government of India’s initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and utilize agricultural residue, thereby addressing both environmental concerns and the issue of stubble burning.

NTPC Dadri, officially the National Capital Power Station (NCPS) is a power plant operated by NTPC Limited, located in Dadri, Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. It comprises both coal-based and gas-based thermal power plants, totaling 2654.78 MW. The plant is also known as NCTPP or NTPC Dadri.
