New Delhi: Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers inducted from various State Civil Services and currently attending the 127th Induction Training Programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) called on the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
From Local Administration to National Responsibilities
Addressing the officers, President Murmu acknowledged their significant contribution at the grassroots level as officers in their respective state civil services. She emphasized that while they had earlier operated based on state-specific priorities, their induction into the IAS expanded the scope and complexity of their roles.
“You are no longer administrators of just a region – you now bear the responsibility of upholding governance standards at the national level,” she said. The President urged them to align their work with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 – a fully developed India by the centenary of independence.

Focus on Inclusive Development
Highlighting the critical role of civil servants in achieving inclusive development, the President said that ensuring the participation and prosperity of marginalized and weaker sections must be central to their administrative efforts.
“When the poor and deprived experience growth and prosperity, only then are we closer to the goal of a developed nation,” President Murmu asserted.
Embracing Technology for Citizen-Centric Governance
The President also highlighted the transformative potential of technology and innovation in governance. She encouraged officers to adopt digital tools, AI, e-governance systems, and real-time feedback mechanisms to enhance service delivery and make administration more efficient and transparent.
“Use technology to build systems that are citizen-friendly and responsive. Let innovation drive your ability to reach the last mile,” she advised.

Upholding Core Values of Civil Service
At the heart of her address was a reminder of the foundational values of the Indian Administrative Service. The President urged the officers to act with integrity, fairness, empathy, transparency, and accountability. She stressed that exercising authority must always be balanced with compassion and impartiality.
“You hold positions of great influence. Use them wisely, always keeping the people’s welfare at the center of your decisions,” the President concluded.
