New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Priya Ranjan for the prestigious post of Director In-Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant, a key unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). The recommendation was made during the selection meeting held on August 22, 2025.
Currently, Ranjan serves as Executive Director (Operations) at SAIL and holds the additional charge of Head, Directorate of Mines and Logistics within the organization.
Selected from a Pool of 12 Candidates
Ranjan was shortlisted for the top post from a competitive list of 12 contenders, which included–
- 7 candidates from SAIL
- 2 each from RINL-VSP and MECON Limited
- 1 from Orissa Mineral Development Company Limited (OMDCL)
The PESB panel conducted a rigorous evaluation process before zeroing in on Ranjan for the leadership role at one of India’s largest integrated steel plants.
Role & Responsibilities as Director In-Charge
In his new role, Ranjan will join SAIL’s Board of Directors and report directly to the Chairman of SAIL. As Director In-Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant, he will:
- Be overall in charge of operations at the Bokaro Steel Plant.
- Ensure efficient functioning of the plant and associated mines.
- Spearhead project implementation at the plant and its mines.
- Oversee the marketing and sales of products manufactured at the facility.
- Drive the achievement of corporate goals and performance benchmarks.
This position is critical for SAIL, given Bokaro Steel Plant’s pivotal role in the company’s production capacity and its contribution to the Indian steel sector.
