GAIL (India) Limited, one of the premier PSUs of Indian government, has hot its new CMD. Sandeep Kumar Gupta has been selected for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of GAIL at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on June 28, 2022. He is currently serving as Director (Finance), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
GAIL, formerly known as Gas Authority of India Ltd., is a government owned natural gas explorer and producer responsible for natural gas processing and distribution in India headquartered in GAIL Bhawan New Delhi, India. It is under the ownership of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. It has the following business segments: natural gas, liquid hydrocarbon, liquefied petroleum gas transmission, petrochemical, city gas distribution, renewable Energy including Solar & Wind, exploration and production, Petrochemicals, GAILTEL and electricity generation.
GAIL was conferred with the Maharatna status on 1 Feb 2013, by the Government of India. Only 10 other Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) enjoy this coveted status amongst all central CPSEs.
