Kolkata: In a significant step towards accelerating India’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, state-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) has entered into a strategic agreement with Snap-E Cabs, the EV cab service operated by EC Wheels India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Steelman Telecom Limited. The collaboration aims to strengthen the HP e-Charge platform by enabling seamless EV charging access for Snap-E Cabs across HPCL’s vast charging network.
Strengthening EV Charging Infrastructure in Kolkata and Highways
As part of this partnership, both entities will work together to develop and expand the EV charging infrastructure at HPCL’s retail outlets in Kolkata and along major highways in Eastern India. The initiative is aligned with India’s commitment to cleaner mobility and sustainable urban transport solutions.
Snap-E Cabs, with a fleet of over 1,200 electric vehicles currently operating in Kolkata, offers reliable, eco-friendly public transport. The tie-up will enhance operational efficiency and route accessibility for its growing EV fleet.

Access to HPCL’s Robust EV Charging Network
Under the agreement, Snap-E Cabs will gain access to HPCL’s EVCS (Electric Vehicle Charging Station) network, which currently comprises over 5,100 EV chargers, including 2,900 DC fast chargers available through the HP e-Charge platform. This access will empower Snap-E’s drivers with more convenient and widespread charging options, thereby increasing fleet uptime and service reliability.
