The Indian Railways’ freight loading for the first 10 months of the fiscal year 2022-23 surpassed the loading and earnings for the same period last year. From April to January 23, 1243.46 MT of freight was loaded, a 7% increase over the previous year’s total of 1159.08 MT. The railroads earned Rs 135387 crore in comparison to Rs 117212 crore in the same period last year, representing a 16% increase.
Originating freight loading was 134.07 MT in January’23, up from 129.12 MT in January’22, a 4% increase. Freight income of Rs. 14907 crores was generated versus Rs 13172 crores in January’22, representing a 13% increase over the previous year.
