Indian Railways Earns Rs 1.35 Lakh Crore From Freight Loading

With the tagline 'Hungry For Cargo,' the railway has made ongoing efforts to increase the ease of doing business as well as service delivery at affordable pricing.

The Indian Railways’ freight loading for the first 10 months of the fiscal year 2022-23 surpassed the loading and earnings for the same period last year. From April to January 23, 1243.46 MT of freight was loaded, a 7% increase over the previous year’s total of 1159.08 MT. The railroads earned Rs 135387 crore in comparison to Rs 117212 crore in the same period last year, representing a 16% increase.

Originating freight loading was 134.07 MT in January’23, up from 129.12 MT in January’22, a 4% increase. Freight income of Rs. 14907 crores was generated versus Rs 13172 crores in January’22, representing a 13% increase over the previous year.
