UPSC Declares Final Results of Combined Section Officers’ (Grade ‘B’) LDCE 2024, 303 Candidates Selected for CSS

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final results of the Combined Section Officers’ (Grade ‘B’) Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE), 2024, held in January 2025, with service record evaluations completed in June 2025.

The results cover a total of five service categories, with category-wise and community-wise merit lists officially released.

Services Covered Under the Select List of 2024

The following services are included in the UPSC-recommended selection list for the year 2024-

  • Category I – Section Officers’ Grade of the Central Secretariat Service (CSS)
  • Category II – Section Officers’ Grade of the General Cadre of the Indian Foreign Service, Branch ‘B’
  • Category III – Section Officers’ Grade of the Railway Board Secretariat Service (RBSS)
  • Category VIII – Section Officers’ Grade of the Intelligence Bureau
  • Category X – Section Officers in Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Service

Category I – Central Secretariat Service

  • Total Vacancies: 306 (including PwBD quotas)
  • Candidates Recommended: 303
  • General: 241

  • Note: Results of 03 candidates (02 General, 01 PwBD-3) have been withheld.

Category II – Indian Foreign Service, Branch ‘B’

  • Candidates Recommended: 34
  • General: 32
  • ST: 2
  • PwBD: 01 (PwBD-3)

Category III – Railway Board Secretariat Service

  • Total Vacancies: 35
  • Candidates Recommended: 34
  • General: 30
  • SC: 4
  • PwBD: 01 PwBD-2

Category VIII – Intelligence Bureau

  • Total Vacancies: 26
  • Candidates Recommended: 25
  • General: 16
  • SC: 6
  • ST: 3

Category X – Armed Forces HQ Civil Service

  • Total Vacancies: 19
  • Candidates Recommended: 19
  • General: 16
  • SC: 2

Provisional Results and Legal Considerations

In Category I, final selection will be subject to guidelines issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) and pending court verdicts (Civil Appeal No. 629/2022, SLP No. 30621/2011, and SLP No. 31288/2017).

Category III (RBSS) results are provisional, pending the outcome of court cases (O.A.s No. 114/2022 & 215/2022) and any revision of the ASO seniority list.

The UPSC has set up a Facilitation Counter near the Examination Hall Building at its New Delhi campus to assist candidates. Queries related to results can be made in person or via phone on working days (10 AM to 5 PM) at:

Additionally, the results are available on the official UPSC website: www.upsc.gov.in. The marks of all candidates will be uploaded within 15 days of the result declaration.
