State-owned NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL) to develop up to 20 GW renewable energy projects in the state.

As per the regulatory filing, MPPGCL and NGEL will jointly work towards forming a joint venture company to meet Madhya Pradesh’s renewable generation obligation and fulfill the renewable purchase obligation (RPO) of the state’s distribution companies (discoms).
The agreement was signed at the Global Investors Summit 2025 in Bhopal and was exchanged in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Mohan Yadav.
According to the filing, this collaboration aims to develop solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects, with or without storage, up to 20 GW or more in Madhya Pradesh. The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s energy transition goals, facilitating the state’s shift towards clean and sustainable power generation.
