In a recent administrative update, Anurag Prasad (IRS-IT:1991), currently Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at Minerals & Metals Trading Corporation Ltd. (MMTC), has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre to facilitate his promotion. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order on May 30, 2025, approving his early return.
Mr Prasad had been appointed as MMTC’s CVO in November 2022 for a fixed three-year tenure scheduled to end in November 2025. However, the tenure was curtailed to allow him to avail promotion benefits.
Separately, IAS officer M Muthukumar (IAS:2008:OD) has been appointed as Director (Finance) at Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI), Kalpakkam. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment on May 28, 2025. Muthukumar will serve in this Joint Secretary-level role under the Department of Atomic Energy for a tenure of seven years or until further orders.
These changes reflect ongoing efforts to streamline leadership roles in key government enterprises and ensure timely promotions for deserving officers. Both appointments highlight the commitment to maintaining strong administrative capabilities across strategic sectors.
