In a major bureaucratic overhaul, the Punjab government has transferred three divisional commissioners and reassigned a total of eight officers – seven IAS and one PCS – across key administrative roles. The reshuffle aims to streamline governance and strengthen administrative efficiency in multiple divisions.
Three Divisions Get New Commissioners
The most significant part of the reshuffle involves new appointments in three major divisions –
Ropar Division
- Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, the outgoing Divisional Commissioner, has been replaced by Manvesh Singh Sidhu.
Faridkot Division
- Manjit Singh Brar, who previously held the responsibility, has now been transferred.
- Arun Sekhri has been appointed the new Divisional Commissioner of Faridkot.
Jalandhar Division
- The Divisional Commissioner charge has been taken from Arun Sekhri and handed over to Ramvir, marking another key shift in the administrative setup.
Major Administrative Changes at Top Bureaucratic Level
The reshuffle also includes important changes in top-level state administration –
- Tejveer Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Local Government), has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary (Technical Education).
- He had recently received an NOC from the Punjab government for a Central Government posting.
- Manjit Singh Brar has now been appointed Administrative Secretary (Local Government), replacing Tejveer Singh.
Officers Assigned Additional Responsibilities
Several senior officers have also been allotted additional charges as part of the administrative realignment –
- Rubinderjit Singh Brar will now also serve as Additional Secretary, NRI Affairs.
- Sonam has been given the additional charge of Joint Commissioner, Patiala Municipal Corporation.
- Jagdeep Saigal has been assigned additional charge as Additional Managing Director, PSIEC (Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation).
PCS Officers Also Reassigned
Alongside IAS officers, one PCS officer has been included in the transfer list, reflecting a wider effort to restructure administrative responsibilities across the state.
Reshuffle Aims to Strengthen Governance and Improve Service Delivery
According to senior officials, the latest reshuffle is intended to improve coordination between departments, enhance administrative oversight at the divisional level, and bolster efficiency in service delivery.
