Chandigarh: In a significant bureaucratic development, the Union Ministry of Personnel on Tuesday announced the promotion of four Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officers to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and nine Punjab Police Service (PPS) officers to the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre.
The promotions reflect the ongoing efforts to strengthen administrative and policing leadership in Punjab.
4 PCS Officers Join IAS Cadre
The newly inducted IAS officers are–
- Rajdeep Singh Brar
- Bikramjit Singh Shergill
- Harsuhinder Singh Brar
- Rubinderjit Singh Brar
These appointments were made under the provisions of the IAS (Recruitment) Rules, 1954 and IAS (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955. The officers will serve on probation until further orders.
However, the promotions are subject to the outcome of pending cases before the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Chandigarh Bench.
9 PPS Officers Elevated to IPS Cadre
In a parallel move, nine PPS officers have been promoted to the IPS cadre. The list includes–
- Mandhir Singh
- Snehdeep Sharma
- Sandeep Goel
- Jasdev Singh Sidhu
- Sandeep Kumar Sharma
- Gurpreet Singh
- Rupinder Singh
- Sarabjit Singh
- Harpreet Singh Jaggi
These officers met with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann following the announcement. The CM congratulated them and acknowledged their dedication and contribution to law enforcement in the state. He expressed confidence in their leadership and urged them to continue upholding high standards of policing and public service.
Government’s Ongoing Focus on Administrative Strengthening
These promotions come as part of the government’s broader push to enhance bureaucratic efficiency and law enforcement capability in Punjab by recognising meritorious service within the state cadres.
The appointments are expected to play a key role in streamlining governance and boosting morale among state civil and police services.
