Dehradun: In a major push to strengthen infrastructure and public services, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial sanctions worth ₹257 crore for multiple development projects across the state. The funding covers road improvement, urban development, drinking water supply, healthcare infrastructure, sports promotion, and preparations for upcoming mega events.
The government stated that these initiatives aim to boost infrastructure, improve civic amenities, and directly benefit citizens across districts.
Major Boost to Road Infrastructure
A significant portion of the approved funds will be utilized for road construction, widening, and resurfacing projects in various districts:
- ₹4.26 crore for Mornaula–Jaiti motor road in Jageshwar area of Almora
- ₹4.70 crore for construction of Kathgodam Bypass (Kathgodam–Ranibagh stretch) on NH-87 in Bhimtal, Nainital
- ₹3.86 crore for reconstruction of Vyasghat–Silsu motor road in Pauri
- ₹14.55 crore to upgrade Dehradun–Kimadi–Lambidhar–Cart Mackenzie road in Mussoorie from single lane to intermediate lane
These projects are expected to improve connectivity, enhance road safety, and support tourism and local businesses.
Urban Development Funds Released Under Finance Commission
Under the 15th Finance Commission recommendations, ₹58.37 crore will be released as the second installment for the financial year 2024–25 to urban local bodies.
Additionally, ₹5.65 crore has been approved for the construction of ‘Devbhoomi Rajat Jayanti Parks’ in:
- Haldwani–Kathgodam
- Gauchar
- Mahuvakhedaganj
- Chamiyala
- Kichha
- Nandprayag
- Narendra Nagar
- Tapovan
These parks aim to enhance urban green spaces and promote recreational activities.
₹79 Crore for District Panchayats and ₹81 Crore for Urban Health Centers
Under the Fifth State Finance Commission:
- ₹79.09 crore has been sanctioned for district panchayats.
- ₹81.57 crore has been approved for Urban Health and Wellness Centres to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.
In Pauri district, ₹3.72 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a 1.53 MLD water treatment plant at Chinwadi Danda to improve drinking water supply.
Support for Transport and Irrigation Projects
- ₹79.68 lakh has been released for the construction of an Automated Driving Test Track in Kotdwar.
- ₹39.04 lakh has been approved from the State Contingency Fund for the Minor Irrigation Department.
These initiatives aim to modernize transport testing systems and improve irrigation facilities.
₹90 Crore Approved for Kumbh Mela 2027 Preparations
In preparation for the 2027 Kumbh Mela, the government has sanctioned ₹90.36 crore for 40 different development works. The funds will support infrastructure strengthening and crowd management facilities ahead of the mega religious gathering.
Financial Aid and Pension Approval
In Almora, financial assistance has been approved for disaster-affected families:
- ₹3 lakh for the owner of a fully damaged house
- ₹1 lakh for the dependent of a deceased individual
Haldwani resident Premlata Verma has been granted a Loktantra Senani Samman Pension of ₹20,000 per month, effective from August 18, 2025.
Focus on Sports and Empowerment of Divyang Students
Under the Chief Minister Emerging Sportsperson Upgradation Scheme, ₹3.47 crore has been approved to promote young athletes in the state.
Additionally, Dehradun-based National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities has been sanctioned ₹19.75 lakh to provide free online coaching for visually impaired students preparing for civil services examinations.
Strengthening Uttarakhand’s Growth Framework
With a total outlay of ₹257 crore, the Uttarakhand government aims to accelerate infrastructure development, improve healthcare access, modernize transport systems, and promote sports and social welfare.
Officials said the decisions will significantly strengthen the state’s basic infrastructure and ensure direct benefits to citizens across Uttarakhand.
