New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has approved a six-month extension in the deputation tenure of Mr. Neeraj Gupta, an Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer, currently serving as Chief General Manager (Mechanical) at IRCON International Ltd. This extension, sanctioned by the Railway Board on 27 November 2025, will continue up to 2 March 2026.
Extension Beyond Sixth Year of Deputation
According to the Railway Board order, Mr. Gupta’s deputation was originally sanctioned under letters dated 22 March 2022, 31 May 2024, and 8 October 2024. The latest extension takes his tenure beyond the completion of six years. However, the extension comes with a caveat: the officer will not be eligible for deputation (duty) allowance beyond the fifth year of his tenure.
Terms and Conditions Remain Intact
The order specifies that all other existing terms and conditions of deputation will continue to apply. Additionally, the tenure extension is valid either until 2 March 2026 or until IRCON International Ltd. is exempted from the rule of immediate absorption, whichever occurs earlier.
Administrative and Financial Concurrence
The extension has been issued with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways. The Railway Board order was signed by Roshan Kumari Meena, Under Secretary, Railway Board, and a copy has been forwarded to key authorities, including the Principal Director of Audit (Northern Railway), Northern Railway Headquarters, and IRCON International Ltd.
Return to Railways After Deputation
The Railway Board communication also reminds IRCON International Ltd. of the standard condition stating that if Mr. Gupta does not return to Railways within one month after completion of deputation, it will be treated as relinquishment of his Railway service.
