Jaipur: The government of Rajasthan has approved stronger disciplinary action in two cases involving an Indian Police Service officer after consulting the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The decision was taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma as part of a wider review of disciplinary and vigilance matters across the state administration.
Alongside the decision regarding the IPS officer, the government cleared more than 50 cases related to prosecution sanction, approvals under Section 17-A, and departmental inquiries.
Action Under CCA Rules in Multiple Cases
In a significant administrative move, the state government imposed penalties in 23 serious cases under CCA Rule-16, affecting 27 state government officers.
These officers were punished with the stoppage of two to four annual pay increments with cumulative effect, a disciplinary measure that permanently impacts their future salary progression.
The action reflects the government’s effort to enforce accountability and maintain administrative discipline in the state services.
Prosecution Sanction Granted Against Three Officers
The government also granted prosecution sanction against several officials accused of wrongdoing.
Among them are:
• A former Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)
• An officer from the Public Works Department (PWD)
• An officer from the Women and Child Development Department
The officials are accused of providing illegal benefits to private individuals, prompting the government to allow legal proceedings to move forward.
Dismissal and Removal from Service
Strict disciplinary measures were also taken in other cases involving serious misconduct.
A former secretary of the Krishi Upaj Mandi Samiti was dismissed from service following a court conviction. In another case, a government officer was removed from service for prolonged absence without authorization.
These actions were taken after completing departmental procedures and legal requirements.
Inquiry Approved Under Section 17-A
The state government also approved an inquiry under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act against a former development officer.
The inquiry relates to allegations of:
• Misuse of official position
• Irregular financial payments
• Causing financial losses to the government
The investigation will examine the officer’s role in the alleged irregularities and determine further action.
Pension Withheld in Five Cases
In another disciplinary step, the government decided to withhold pensions in five cases involving retired officials.
The decision indicates that accountability measures can continue even after retirement if serious irregularities are discovered.
Government’s Push for Administrative Accountability
The decisions reflect the state government’s efforts to strengthen administrative accountability and ensure strict action against misconduct in public service.
Officials said that disciplinary proceedings, prosecution sanctions, and inquiries will continue to be pursued to maintain transparency and integrity within the government system.
