Rajendra Prasad Goyal has been entrusted with the additional charge of the post of Director (Finance) at Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) Limited.
Mr. Goyal has been serving as Director (Finance) of NHPC Limited since October 1, 2020. He also serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the company. Additionally, he held the position of Chairman & Managing Director of NHPC as an additional charge from March 1, 2024, to August 7, 2024.
He began his career at NHPC on November 18, 1988, as a Senior Accountant at the Salal Power Station in J&K. He has since worked at various projects and offices, including the Chamera-I Project, Dulhasti Project, Regional Office in Jammu, and the Corporate Office in Faridabad, in various capacities. Before becoming Director (Finance), he was Chief General Manager (Finance), overseeing Corporate Accounts & Policy, Taxation, Treasury, Establishment, and Investor Relations.
In addition to his current roles, Mr Goyal chairs the boards of Lanco Teesta Hydro Power Limited, Jalpower Corporation Limited, NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (wholly-owned subsidiaries of NHPC), and Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited (a subsidiary of NHPC).
He is a Nominee Director on the boards of Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd, Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (a joint venture of NHPC and JKSPDCL), Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Corporation Limited, and NHDC Limited (subsidiaries of NHPC). Rajendra Prasad Goyal is also a member of the Executive Board of the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), New Delhi.
Furthermore, Mr Goyal has been given the additional charge of Director (Finance) at the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Faridabad.

He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. With over 34 years of experience at NHPC Ltd., he possesses extensive expertise in finance, particularly in the financial, contractual, and regulatory aspects of hydro project construction and operations. His leadership, work ethic, and professionalism are widely recognized.
Throughout his career at NHPC, Mr Goyal has advanced through the ranks due to his sense of responsibility, ethical standards, and dedication. He has established himself as an exceptional finance professional and has significantly contributed to the sustained growth of NHPC.
SJVN is an Indian public sector undertaking in the Navratna category, involved in hydroelectric power generation and transmission.
SJVN plans to install a total capacity of 12 GW in the next two years as it progresses towards its vision of achieving a 25 GW capacity by 2030 and a 50 GW capacity by 2040. It also aims to add 1-1.5 GW of renewable capacity annually. Additionally, it has ambitious plans to enter emerging segments such as round-the-clock (RTC) power, green hydrogen, and green ammonia. To this end, SJVN has signed MoUs with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited and Sambhar Salts Limited for the joint development of renewable energy projects. These include offshore and onshore solar, wind, hybrid, and RTC projects, along with plans to venture into new technologies such as green hydrogen and green ammonia. Considering its future plans, SJVN Limited has also signed a joint venture agreement with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited and APDCL to develop over 5 GW of renewable energy projects in Maharashtra and 1 GW in Assam.
