IAS officer Rajesh Aggarwal of 1989 batch & Maharashtra cadre has been assigned additional charge as Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment. He is currently serving as Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), As per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on January 3, 2025, Mr. Aggarwal will handle the additional responsibilities from January 4 to January 12, 2025, during the leave of Amit Yadav (IAS: 1991: AGMUT).
An IIT Delhi alumnus with a B.Tech in Computer Science, Mr. Aggarwal joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1989. He has made notable contributions to cyber-jurisprudence, delivering over 70 judgments as an Adjudicating Officer under the IT Act. His innovative leadership played a key role in major digital initiatives, including Aadhaar, Jan Dhan, DigiLocker, and Jeevan Pramaan.
