New Delhi: Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate a national-level conference titled ‘Opportunities in Defence Manufacturing in the Country’ on October 7, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event is being organised under the aegis of the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence (MoD).
The conference will serve as a focused platform to enhance synergy between the Ministry of Defence and State/UT Governments, with the aim of aligning regional industrial strategies with the national goal of self-reliance in defence production.
Launch of Defence-Focused Digital Platforms
During the conference, the Raksha Mantri will launch two key digital initiatives to streamline processes and promote transparency in the defence sector:
- Defence Exim Portal: Designed to simplify and digitise the export-import authorisation process for defence items.
- Srijan DEEP Portal (Defence Establishments and Entrepreneurs Platform): A comprehensive repository mapping the capabilities, products, and innovation potential of Indian defence industries.
Release of Strategic Publications
Two important publications will also be unveiled at the event:
- ‘Aerospace & Defence Sector Policy Compendium of States and Union Territories’: A document that captures the evolving defence industrial policies of Indian states and UTs.
- iDEX Coffee Table Book titled ‘Shared Horizons of Innovation’: Showcasing innovations and success stories under the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) initiative.
States & UTs to Play a Central Role in Defence Growth
Senior officials from the Departments of Industries of all States and Union Territories have been invited to participate in the event. The goal is to encourage regional contributions to India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.
The conference is expected to foster discussions on:
- Boosting indigenisation
- Enhancing defence exports
- Attracting private sector investment into the defence sector
Streamlining industrial infrastructure development to support MSMEs and large manufacturers alike

The national conference is a key step in India’s journey toward achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat in the strategic defence sector.
