Kozhikode: Calling upon financial professionals to rise above conventional roles and embrace a broader responsibility toward society, IAS officer Raju Narayana Swamy urged Chartered Accountants to become agents of social change by upholding integrity and ethical standards in their profession.
Addressing the 44th Annual Changeover Function organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Kozhikode Branch, Dr Swamy emphasized that Chartered Accountants have a pivotal role to play in strengthening India’s economy and advancing the vision of the atmanirbhar bharat.

Dr Swamy, a 1991-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre and widely known for his anti-corruption stance, stressed that integrity is the cornerstone of the accounting profession.
“In an era where India is moving towards building a more robust economy, Chartered Accountants can play a pivotal role,” he said, highlighting that ethical financial practices are essential for sustainable growth and public trust.
He observed that the contribution of CAs in the mission to build an Atma Nirbhar Bharat is without parallel, as they serve as financial guardians in both public and private sectors.

Referring to the national vision of self-reliance, Dr Swamy noted that financial transparency, compliance, and responsible advisory services form the backbone of economic development.

About Dr Raju Narayana Swamy
Dr Swamy is a distinguished 1991-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, widely revered as an anti-corruption crusader. A consistent academic topper, he secured All India Rank 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination and holds multiple doctorates in law and political science.
Throughout his 34-year career, his uncompromising integrity reportedly led to over 30 transfers, underscoring his steadfast approach to governance.
He notably spearheaded “Operation Munnar,” a major drive against illegal encroachments, and exposed high-level corruption that ultimately led to a minister’s resignation.
Beyond his administrative accomplishments, Dr Swamy is also a prolific author, having written 34 books. He received the prestigious Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for his travelogue, reflecting his contributions to literature alongside public service. He currently serves as Principal Secretary to the Government of Kerala.
