The Rajya Sabha on Monday passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill to merge Jammu and Kashmir cadre of All India Service (IAS, IPS and IFoS) with the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territory) cadre.

Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy, during the debate, claimed that speedy development is happening in the region since the State was demoted to Union Territory in August 2019.
