The Ministry of Defence has appointed Rakesh Bhawsar and Dr S.D. Premkumar as Part-Time, Non-Official, Independent Directors on the Board of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
Dr Premkumar is a seasoned medical professional with over 16 years of experience in the healthcare sector. He holds an MBBS degree from Annamalai University and a Postgraduate Diploma in ENT from Madras Medical College. He currently serves as a Senior Consultant and Medical Superintendent at Bharathiraja Speciality Hospital & Research Centre in Chennai.

Mr Bhawsar is a Chartered Accountant with more than 22 years of experience in statutory, internal, and government audits. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and holds a bachelor’s degree in science from Vikram University, Ujjain. His expertise spans management, taxation, legal consultancy, and strategic planning. He is also known for his social engagements and serves as the Managing Trustee of Saraswati Bal Kalyan Nyas, which publishes the children’s magazine Devputra.
The appointments reflect ongoing efforts to enhance corporate governance and strategic oversight at one of India’s premier aerospace and defence PSUs.
