The Centre has extended the tenure of Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das for a period of three years.
An official statement said, “The Appointment committee of the cabinet has approved the reappointment of Shaktikanta Das as Reserve Bank of India Governor for a period of three years beyond 10.12.2021 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Das was appointed in the year 2018 as the Governor of RBI. He is an IAS officer of Tamil Nadu Cadre. Last year he was retired as Economic Affairs Secretary and was subsequently made a member of 15th Finance Commission.
