Gurgaon: REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power, today kickstarted Swachhata Pakhwada 2025, a fortnight-long campaign dedicated to promoting cleanliness, sustainability, and public awareness. The initiative will run from May 16 to May 31, 2025, across all REC offices nationwide.
The event began with the Swachhata Pledge, administered by Mr Jitendra Srivastava, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director, REC Limited, urging employees to embrace cleanliness not just as a duty but as a way of life. CMD Srivastava highlighted India’s transformation under the Swachh Bharat Mission, noting its impact on dignity, behavior change, and environmental stewardship.

Key Highlights of the Inaugural Day:
‘Waste to Art’ Charkha Installation: A symbolic CHARKHA made from 200 kg of recycled waste materials was unveiled by the CMD and senior officials. The art installation represents self-reliance, sustainability, and India’s commitment to circular economy practices.
Inspiring Awareness Sessions:
Mr Ramveer Tanwar, popularly known as the Pondman of India, addressed employees on the intersection of sanitation, water conservation, and health.
MrJasmer Singh Chauhan, Sarpanch of Sultanpur Village (awarded Cleanest Village in Swachhata Survekshan Gramin 2023), shared success stories from rural India, highlighting the power of grassroots leadership.
Tree Plantation Drive: The CMD, Directors, and CVO led a plantation initiative on campus to promote biodiversity and eco-consciousness.
Health Camp for Housekeeping Staff: REC organized comprehensive health check-ups for its housekeeping staff, demonstrating its inclusive approach to employee welfare.
Financial Inclusion Session: In collaboration with banks, REC facilitated a session to educate staff on welfare schemes and financial inclusion opportunities under various government initiatives.
Cleanliness Restoration by Regional Offices: Simultaneously, REC’s Regional Offices undertook targeted cleanliness efforts by restoring Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) to scale up decentralized sanitation initiatives.
