REC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. Under this partnership, REC has pledged Rs 2.92 crore to procure medical equipment for ITBP field hospitals, benefiting personnel, their families, ex-CAPF members, and civilians in remote and underserved areas.
The initiative, implemented through the REC Foundation, will enhance healthcare facilities in ITBP field hospitals located in Leh (two facilities), Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh, Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh, Dehradun in Uttarakhand, and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. The agreement was formalised on Monday by Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR) at REC, and SC Mamgain, ITBP’s Inspector General (Admin).
Speaking at the event, Pradeep Fellows emphasised the importance of addressing the unique healthcare needs of these regions. He stated, “This initiative reflects our dedication to supporting ITBP personnel and fostering healthier communities in remote areas. By improving healthcare services, we aim to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who serve and the communities they protect.”
The upgraded medical equipment will improve healthcare delivery by enabling quicker diagnostics, enhanced patient care, and timely interventions, particularly in high-altitude and Naxalite-affected regions. Around 1,50,000 ITBP personnel and local residents are expected to benefit from these enhanced facilities, which will reduce wait times, improve critical care, and ensure access to essential healthcare services.
