Maharatna PSU RECL (Rural Electrification Corporation Limited) won the “Sustainability Champion – Editor’s Choice Award” at the ‘Outlook Planet Sustainability Summit & Awards 2024’ hosted by Outlook Group, in collaboration with IIT Goa, for driving progress towards a greener future.
The prestigious accolade was handed over to Ms. Saraswathi, Senior General Manager (Mumbai Office) of REC. The award highlights the PSU’s pledge to sustainability initiatives, leading the path toward a greener future. RECL has emerged as a critical entity for catalyzing India’s energy transition, and its plans are intricately aligned with the global thrust towards clean energy sources.
REC is set to invest in sustainability initiatives, which can be deduced from its current loan portfolio of approximately Rs 38,971 crore under renewable energy. With a visionary target of improving the renewables mix to around 30% of the projected loan book of about 10 lakh crore by 2030.
