A joint team comprising experts from Ranthambore National Park and officials of Haryana and Rajasthan Forest Departments on Sunday night rescued a two-and-half-year-old male tiger that had strayed into the Jhabua Reserve Forest Area here from Sariska Tiger Reserve, Rajasthan, 84 days ago.

With the rescue of the tiger, residents of nearby 10 villages heaved a sigh of relief as they were unable to go to their fields after sunset and before sunrise due to fear of the tiger who used to hide in the dense forest during daytime, but moved around at night.

“A special rescue operation was launched today after a team of experts from Ranthambore National Park reached here. We waited for the movement of the tiger the whole day. At 6.30 pm, the joint team managed to tranquilize the tiger,” shared Deepak Patil the Divisional Forest Officer of Rewari.

Patil maintained that the tiger would be taken back to Rajasthan and released at a suitable location within its natural habitat. This tiger’s movement has been carefully monitored by both state forest departments since it entered the Jhabua area on August 17. A special team from Ranthambore National Park was called in to assist in the rescue operation, he added.

Sources said the rescue operation was carried out under the guidance of Sangram Singh, Field Director, of Sariska Tiger Reserve, Abhimanyu Saharan, Deputy Field Director, of Sariska Tiger Reserve, and Deepak Patil, Divisional Forest Officer, Rewari
