Amidst a recent development, Paras Health, a private healthcare provider, appointed a retired IAS officer, Mr. Upendra Prasad Singh (1985-batch Odisha cadre officer), as an Independent Director on its Board, hoping to utilise his 37-year-long experience in the bureaucracy to enhance the company’s policy formulation and strategic management.
Mr. Singh’s experience in directing public sector enterprises and serving on the boards of major corporations, including Maharatna and Navratna companies, makes him an unparalleled candidate to provide invaluable oversight and strategic direction for Paras Health’s continued success.
Officer Singh retired as Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Textiles in October 2022. During his tenure, he spearheaded several initiatives such as the PLI Scheme for Textiles and PM-MITRA Park that contributed to unprecedented textile exports. He also served as Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, and led the Ministry’s flagship initiatives such as Namami Gange, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Swachh Bharat Mission-II.
