The government of Meghalaya has recently appointed a retired IPS officer, Mr. Heimonlang Nongpluh, as a member of the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC).
A notification issued here informed that Mr. Nongpluh has been appointed as a member of the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission as per sub-section (2) of Section 24 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office for a period three years.
It is pertinent to mention that Officer Nongpluh had served as the ADGP (SB/CID) in Shillong and had been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2021.
