RITES Appoints Vinod Kumar Sharma as Chief Vigilance Officer to Strengthen Governance

New Delhi: RITES Limited, a premier government-owned engineering and consultancy company, has appointed Vinod Kumar Sharma (ITS) as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the company, effective February 9, 2026, according to a regulatory filing made with stock exchanges.

The appointment follows an order issued by the Ministry of Railways, and Sharma has been included in the Senior Management Personnel of the company with immediate effect. He will hold the position for an initial term of three years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Experienced Telecom Professional Joins RITES

Before joining RITES, Sharma served as Business Area Head in the Muzaffarpur Business Area under the Bihar Telecom Circle of BSNL. An officer of the 1999 Indian Telecom Service (ITS) batch, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur.

Sharma brings over 25 years of experience in the telecom sector, having worked in BSNL, BBNL, and the Department of Telecommunications. His expertise spans the installation, expansion, operations, and maintenance of telecom networks, as well as monitoring significant government initiatives, including the National Optical Fibre Network (NoFN).

Role and Responsibilities as CVO

As RITES’ Chief Vigilance Officer, Sharma will be responsible for strengthening the company’s vigilance and compliance framework, ensuring transparency, integrity, and effective risk management. His appointment is expected to enhance corporate governance and support RITES in maintaining high standards of ethical and operational conduct across its projects and business functions.
