Former Union Secretary of the Department of Justice, S. K. G. Rahate, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) for a three-year term. Mr. Rahate was an IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre and 1990 batch who recently retired from the service. He is expected to assume office next week. Established by the Government of India under the AERA Act (2008), AERA is tasked with regulating tariffs and other charges for aeronautical services provided at airports.
