New Delhi: The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of India’s largest and most prominent public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Steel, has appointed Mr Pranoy Roy as an Independent Director on its Board. The appointment was formalized on July 8, 2025, following a nomination from the Government of India dated July 3, 2025.
Shri Roy will serve on the SAIL Board for a term of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Appointment Confirmed in Regulatory Filings
In a formal filing with both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), SAIL confirmed that Mr Roy meets all eligibility requirements and is not under any disqualification from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or other regulatory authorities. The appointment has been made in accordance with Regulation 30 of SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR).
This strategic appointment aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership and governance frameworks in major public sector enterprises.

With over 25 years of experience in legal and tax advisory, Mr Roy, aged around 54, brings with him a deep understanding of corporate law, NGO compliance, FCRA regulations, CSR policy, and income tax.
