State-owned Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has signed an agreement with the TEXMiN Foundation of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad to drive technological advancements in the fields of mining and metallurgy.
In a statement on Monday, SAIL’s IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) in Burnpur announced this strategic collaboration with the TEXMiN Foundation, emphasising its aim to enhance intellectual capabilities through specialised programs. The initiative will focus on advanced training modules, case studies, and simulations centred on steelmaking processes to develop workforce expertise in cutting-edge domains.
Brijendra Pratap Singh, Director In-Charge of Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plants, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating that it combines technology, academic insight, and industry expertise to support the company’s growth objectives.
Deputy Director of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Director of TEXMiN, Dheeraj Kumar, underlined the critical role of the mining and steel industries in equipping communities with skills for the evolving digital economy. He added that such collaborations will bolster reskilling and upskilling efforts, preparing the workforce for the future of digital transformation in the mining and metals sectors.
Singh further noted that the initiative aims to foster safe, smart, and sustainable mining practices through operational and process optimisation, ultimately strengthening the industry’s capabilities.
