Samir Chandra Saxena has been selected for the prestigious position of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Grid Controller of India Limited (Grid-India), following a meeting of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) held on January 30, 2025. Currently serving as Director (Market Operation) at Grid-India, Saxena’s appointment is contingent upon the receipt of vigilance clearances and final approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Saxena was one of three applicants interviewed for the role, alongside Rajiv Kumar Porwal, Director (System Operation) at Grid-India, and Manoj Kumar Agrawal, Executive Director (SP&M, C&M, Renewable Energy) at Grid-India.
Upon confirmation, Saxena will lead Grid-India, which plays a crucial role in ensuring the operation and development of the country’s power grid. His selection marks a significant leadership change within the organization, reflecting confidence in his expertise and experience in the power sector.
