Pune: Sanjay Hazari has been appointed as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Munitions India Ltd (MIL), a prominent Indian state-owned defence company. Hazari, who was previously serving as the General Manager at MIL, was elevated to this new role by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet.
Munitions India Limited, headquartered in Pune, was established in 2021 as part of the restructuring and corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board into seven distinct Public Sector Undertakings. The company plays a pivotal role in defence production, primarily manufacturing ammunition, explosives, rockets, and bombs for the Indian Armed Forces, foreign militaries, and civilian applications.
As the new CMD, Hazari is expected to lead MIL in fulfilling the government’s “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” vision, contributing to India’s self-reliance in defense production.
