SC Collegium Recommends 2 Addl Judges for Permanent Appointment at Gauhati High Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of two Additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court as permanent judges. The names of Justice Karkdak Ete and Justice Mridul Kumar Kalita were officially recommended by the Collegium on January 7.

Both judges have been serving as Additional Judges at the Gauhati High Court and their recommendations for permanent appointments are set to strengthen the judicial system in the region. The decision comes after a thorough evaluation of their performance, legal expertise, and contributions to the legal community.

The formal appointment will be subject to approval by the President of India. If confirmed, the two judges will continue their important roles in ensuring justice and upholding the rule of law in the northeastern region of India.
