SCI Appoints Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh as Director (BC&T) with Additional Charge

Ministry approves expanded role for seasoned maritime leader to strengthen SCI’s bulk, liner and tanker operations through 2026

Mumbai: The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has announced that Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh, who is currently serving as Director (Liner and Passenger Services), has assumed additional charge as Director of the Bulk, Crude & Tanker (BC&T) segment of the company. The appointment has been approved by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and will be effective from January 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, or until further orders.

Strengthening Leadership Across Key Business Segments

With this additional responsibility, Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh will oversee three of SCI’s critical verticals—bulk, liner, and tanker operations—further strengthening the company’s leadership framework. SCI stated that the move is aimed at ensuring operational continuity, strategic alignment, and enhanced efficiency across its diverse shipping portfolio.

Over 35 Years of Distinguished Maritime Experience

Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh brings more than three and a half decades of extensive maritime experience, including a distinguished career in the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. During his service, he held several senior and strategic positions such as Chief of Staff of the Southern Naval Command, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation), and Principal Director at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi. He has also commanded destroyers, corvettes, and key naval training establishments.

Proven Leadership at SCI

Since joining SCI in 2023, Admiral Singh has been heading the Liner and Passenger Services segment and has also successfully managed the Bulk and Tanker operations. His leadership has contributed to strengthening SCI’s operational capabilities in a highly competitive global shipping environment.

In addition to his executive responsibilities, he serves on the boards of SCI Bharat IFSC Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of SCI, and Sethusamudram Corporation Ltd. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Narottam Morarje Institute of Shipping, Mumbai.

Academic Excellence and Honours

Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh holds a postgraduate degree in Business Administration and is an alumnus of the Naval Postgraduate School, California (USA), and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. In recognition of his exemplary service, he has been awarded the prestigious Nau Sena Medal.

SCI said the appointment further reinforces its executive leadership and supports the company’s long-term strategic initiatives in India’s maritime and shipping sector, especially in strengthening bulk and tanker operations amid evolving global trade dynamics.
