New Delhi: The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and GIZ, Germany, organised an outreach workshop on the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) — a global initiative focused on accelerating industrial decarbonisation and promoting sustainable growth in the heavy industry sector.
The event witnessed the participation of senior government officials, industry leaders, and international delegates from Sweden and Germany, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in addressing climate challenges.

Speakers highlighted the critical role of industry transition in achieving net-zero targets, emphasizing innovation, policy support, and international partnerships.
LeadIT Platform: Accelerating Industry Transition
The discussions focused on how the LeadIT platform can foster:
- Enhanced international collaboration,
- Technological innovation in low-emission processes, and
- Financing mechanisms to scale up green industry solutions.
Launched at the UN Climate Action Summit 2019, LeadIT is supported by the World Economic Forum and aims to align countries and industries to achieve net-zero emissions from heavy industries by 2050.
Strong Industry Participation and Global Commitment
The outreach event drew participation from over 40 representatives of nearly 20 public and private sector organisations, reflecting a growing commitment from Indian industries to align with national and global climate ambitions.
The initiative strengthens cooperation between governments, industries, and international partners to develop sustainable pathways for reducing industrial carbon footprints.
