New Delhi: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), Bilaspur for the installation of 96 Semiconductor Air Sterilizer Units. The project, funded under SECL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, carries a financial outlay of ₹4.36 crore and marks a pioneering step in medical air sterilization technology in Chhattisgarh.
MoU Signed in Presence of Senior Officials
The MoU signing ceremony took place at SECL Headquarters in the presence of Mr. Biranchi Das, Director (HR).
On behalf of SECL, Mr. C. M. Verma, GM (CSR), and from CIMS, Dr. Ramnesh Murti, Dean, exchanged the documents. Senior officials from the SECL CSR Department and CIMS Bilaspur were also present during the event, highlighting the importance of the collaboration.
A First-of-Its-Kind Project in Chhattisgarh
This initiative introduces semiconductor-based air sterilization technology to CIMS Bilaspur—making it the first hospital in Chhattisgarh to adopt this advanced system.
The 96 units will be installed across critical healthcare zones including:
- Surgical Operation Theatres (OTs)
- Intensive Care Units (ICUs)
- Medical Intensive Care Units (MICUs)
- Other enclosed treatment areas
The semiconductor sterilizers are expected to significantly enhance air purification, contributing to safer, high-standard healthcare delivery.
Boost to Infection Control and Patient Safety
The project is designed to improve infection control, reinforce patient safety, and maintain high levels of hygiene within hospital environments. CIMS, being a major government healthcare institution, caters to thousands of patients annually, and the upgraded sterile air systems will benefit a vast segment of the public.
SECL’s contribution is aligned with its broader vision of strengthening public health infrastructure and adopting technological solutions that improve the quality of life for local communities.
