Senior IAS officer Amit Negi has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). A 1999 batch IAS officer, Negi has held several significant positions in Uttarakhand, including a long tenure overseeing the Finance Department.
A native of Dehradun, Negi was recently promoted to Principal Secretary in the state before being empanelled by the Centre as an Additional Secretary, following his promotion from the rank of Joint Secretary. After his extensive service in Uttarakhand, particularly as Secretary, Finance, Negi was on Central deputation as Joint Secretary in the Department of Expenditure within the Finance Ministry. His new role in the PMO marks his advancement to Additional Secretary at the Centre.
The Prime Minister’s Office now has two IAS officers from Uttarakhand, with IAS officer Mangesh Ghildiyal, a 2012 batch officer, currently serving as Deputy Secretary.
