New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has issued several significant orders regarding the appointments and tenure extensions of senior civil servants.

Ankita Chakravarty (IAS: 2013: AGMUT), who has been serving as Private Secretary to Annpurna Devi, the Minister for Women & Child Development, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation. This move comes on a lateral shift basis, and as a result, her tenure as Private Secretary has been prematurely curtailed.

According to an order issued by the DoPT on Thursday, February 27, 2025, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved her appointment to the Deputy Secretary post, effective from the date of assumption of charge. Her tenure will extend until November 30, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. This is in line with the balance period of her four-year central deputation tenure at the Deputy Secretary level under the Central Staffing Scheme.

Gavali Parag Harshad Appointed Deputy Secretary in MoHUA

Gavali Parag Harshad (IAS: 2013: OD), who has been serving as Private Secretary to the Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA). As part of this new assignment, his tenure as Private Secretary has been curtailed.

According to an order issued on Friday, February 28, 2025, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment to the Deputy Secretary post, effective from the date of assumption of charge. His tenure will extend until July 11, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Extension of Dr. Shalia Shah’s Tenure in the Department of Higher Education

In a related development, Dr. Shalia Shah (IFS: 2012), currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Higher Education, has had her central deputation tenure extended for another two years. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension, which will run from March 1, 2025, to March 1, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Dr. Shah began her central deputation tenure on March 2, 2022.
