Mumbai: The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) has officially appointed Shri Vikram Dingley as the Director (Finance) of the organisation, in addition to his existing role as Director (Technical & Offshore Services). The appointment, approved by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is effective from July 1, 2025, and will remain in effect until December 31, 2025, or until further orders.
The Ministry issued its approval via an official communication (Ref: SS-11012/4/2019-US(SU)) dated July 2, 2025.
Extensive Maritime and Engineering Background
Shri Dingley brings with him a wealth of experience in the maritime sector. With over 36 years in the industry, he has served both at sea and ashore in various capacities. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Regional Engineering College, Srinagar, and a First Class Marine Engineer License, qualifying him for the highest levels of shipboard engineering responsibilities.
A Career Steeped in Technical Expertise
Having joined SCI in 1989, Dingley began his career working on SCI’s fleet vessels and rose through the ranks to become Chief Engineer. In 2003, he transitioned to the shore establishment, where he played significant roles in departments like Ship Building, Tanker Technical, and Fleet Personnel.
His areas of expertise include:
- Technical operations
- Vessel management
- Dry docking
- End-to-end project execution
His technical acumen has been instrumental in shaping SCI’s operations and strategic project outcomes.
Board-Level Leadership Beyond SCI
Shri Dingley also holds board positions in SCI’s wholly owned subsidiaries:
- Inland & Coastal Shipping Ltd. (ICSL)
- SCI Bharat IFSC Ltd.
These additional roles allow him to influence policy and business development beyond the corporation’s core shipping operations.
No Conflict of Interest
SCI clarified that Shri Vikram Dingley is not related to any existing directors of the corporation. Furthermore, there are no disqualifications against him from any regulatory authority or judicial body, affirming his eligibility for the dual leadership responsibility.

The Shipping Corporation of India is the largest Indian shipping company, established in 1961 by merging Eastern Shipping Corporation and Western Shipping Corporation. It is a government-owned enterprise playing a crucial role in India’s maritime trade.
