J&K: Six IAS, JKAS Officers Deputed to Attend Film Festival in Goa Ahead of State’s Own Event

Indian Masterminds Stories

In an interesting move, six senior officers, including IAS and JKAS officials, have been deputed to attend an upcoming film festival in Goa. According to sources close to the development, the officers are being sent to gain insights into how film festivals are managed, as Jammu and Kashmir is set to host its own film festival in February 2024.

The officers selected for this deputation include Jatin Kishore, IAS, Director Information, J&K; Pawan Singh Rathore, JKAS, Special Secretary to the Government; Vivek Puri, JKAS, Joint Director (HQ), Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR); Deepak Dubey, JKAS, Deputy Director (AV), DIPR; Hitesh Chowdhary, JKAS, Accounts Officer, DIPR; and Maheer Thakur, Jr Scale JKAS, Information Officer, DIPR.

These officers are expected to attend the event in Goa to learn about the intricacies of organizing such large-scale cultural events, with a particular focus on logistics, management, and coordination. The exposure and experience they gain during their time in Goa are expected to aid in the successful execution of the J&K Film Festival scheduled for early next year.

Strategic Move for Exposure and Learning Sources have confirmed that the officers, who are currently assigned to their respective posts, will likely remain in their positions until the J&K film festival takes place. This strategic move is aimed at ensuring that the officers bring back valuable knowledge and lessons that can be applied to the upcoming cultural event in the union territory.

The J&K Film Festival, which aims to showcase regional and national cinematic talent, is being planned with a significant focus on promoting the state’s growing film industry.

A Boost for J&K’s Film Industry The decision to send the officers to the film festival also reflects J&K’s increasing focus on promoting arts and culture, as well as establishing the region as a key hub for the Indian film industry. The upcoming film festival in February is expected to be a major step in this direction, with government officials hoping it will draw attention to the region’s scenic beauty and untapped potential as a filming destination.

As J&K continues to develop its tourism and cultural sectors, the success of such initiatives could significantly boost the region’s global profile, positioning it as a prominent player in India’s film and entertainment landscape.
