New Delhi: SJVN Limited, a state-owned public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Power, has announced the successful commissioning of 128.88 MW solar power capacity at its 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan. The project is being developed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN.
Over 62% of Project Now Operational
In a regulatory filing on Tuesday, the company stated that the cumulative commissioned capacity of the project now stands at 629.90 MW, representing more than 62% of the total capacity. The remaining portion of the project is expected to be commissioned in the coming months.
“This is to inform that a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has achieved commercial operation of 128.88 MW part capacity out of 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project on September 30, 2025,” the company said in its filing.
Large-Scale Solar Push in Rajasthan
The Bikaner Solar Power Project is part of SJVN’s strategic initiative to scale up its renewable energy portfolio in line with India’s commitment to clean energy transition. Rajasthan, with its vast solar potential, is a key state in this renewable energy expansion.
The project is aligned with the Government of India’s vision of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, and SJVN is contributing significantly to that goal through large-scale solar and wind developments.
