SJVN Unveils ₹36 Lakh Development and Green Initiatives at NJHPS Project Area in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: SJVN Director (Personnel) and Chairman, SJVN Foundation, Mr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, inaugurated multiple developmental initiatives at the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) project area, underlining the company’s strong commitment to sustainable development, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.

Foundation Laid for Temple Renovation Project

As part of the initiative, Mr. Sharma laid the foundation stone for the restoration and renovation of the ancient Kothi located in the Devi Sahiba Lati Jahari, Kharkag temple complex. This temple holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for the local community. SJVN will extend financial assistance of over ₹36 lakh under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy for the temple renovation, ensuring the preservation of the region’s rich heritage and traditions.

Promoting Sustainability Through Clean Mobility

Reinforcing SJVN’s commitment to environmental responsibility, Mr. Ajay Kumar Sharma flagged off an electric vehicle hired for project work through a project-affected person. This initiative not only encourages the adoption of green mobility but also provides livelihood opportunities to local stakeholders, ensuring community participation in sustainable initiatives.

Green Drive: “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”

During the event, Mr. Sharma also planted a sapling under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, contributing to the company’s broader environmental goals of increasing green cover and promoting eco-friendly practices. The tree plantation drive is a part of SJVN’s ongoing efforts to integrate ecological balance with infrastructure development.

Preserving Culture While Driving Development

In his address, Mr. Sharma emphasized that SJVN is equally focused on preserving local culture and traditions alongside implementing major infrastructure projects. “Our developmental initiatives are deeply connected with the local community. We aim to protect cultural heritage while empowering people and advancing sustainable growth,” he stated.

The event was attended by Project Head, NJHPS, Mr. Rajiv Kapoor, along with various department heads of NJHPS and local dignitaries. Their participation reflects the company’s inclusive approach to development, ensuring local involvement in decision-making and implementation.
