State-owned SJVN Limited has signed an initial agreement to develop a 1,800 MW pumped hydro storage project (PSP) at Kotpali in Chhattisgarh, with an estimated investment of Rs 9,500 crore.
SJVN has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) for the development of the project, according to an official statement. The initiative is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for approximately 5,000 people during the development phase.
The Kotpali PSP, located in the Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh, is an off-stream closed-loop type project with an installed capacity of 1,800 MW. It is designed to generate around 3,967 million units (MU) of energy annually.
