New Delhi: In a significant step toward cross-border energy cooperation and clean power development, SJVN Limited has signed a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for the supply of 200 MW of electricity from the 900 MW Arun-III Hydro Electric Project. The agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
The PSA was inked by R.K. Gupta, Chief General Manager (Power Trading), SJVN, and Samit Mandal, Senior General Manager (Commercial), DVC. The signing ceremony was attended by SJVN’s CMD (Addl. Charge) Bhupender Gupta, Director (Projects) Sushil Sharma, Director (Personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma, and DVC’s Executive Director Sanjeev Srivastava, along with other senior officials.

Arun-III: A Strategic Indo-Nepal Clean Energy Initiative
The 900 MW Arun-III Hydro Electric Project is being developed in the Sankhuwasabha district of Nepal by SJVN Arun-3 Power Development Company Pvt. Ltd. (SAPDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN. The project is a cornerstone of India-Nepal energy collaboration and is expected to generate substantial clean energy to help meet the growing electricity demand in India.

Upon completion, expected by FY 2027–28, the project will not only contribute to sustainable energy goals but also enhance regional energy security. The hydro project is poised to produce 900 MW of clean electricity, supporting both environmental sustainability and economic development in the Arun River basin.
Boost to Regional Power Security
This PSA aligns with India’s push for increasing the share of clean energy in its energy mix. It also underscores SJVN’s growing role in cross-border power trade and regional cooperation. The energy produced will help power Indian states, reduce carbon emissions, and foster closer economic ties with Nepal.
The agreement with DVC marks an important milestone in SJVN’s international power portfolio and reiterates its commitment to sustainable and collaborative energy development.
