Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar: The Services Preparatory Institute (SPI) is set to welcome a new full-time director after a prolonged 18-month leadership vacancy. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has completed the selection process and finalized the appointment of a retired colonel from Pune, with the General Administration Department expected to issue a formal appointment letter within the next one to two weeks.
Key Step Toward Reinforcing SPI’s Legacy in Defense Training
Established in 1977, SPI has played a pivotal role in preparing young aspirants for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and successful clearance of the Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews. The institute is widely recognized for its disciplined training environment and consistent track record.
In 2024, 37 of the 57 cadets from SPI’s 47th course cleared the UPSC NDA exam, a testament to its high academic and training standards. The cadets are currently undergoing intensive SSB preparation.
Director Appointment Expected to Bolster Governance and Cadet Success
The absence of a full-time director for over a year had raised concerns over administrative efficiency and strategic direction. The new appointment is expected to strengthen governance, streamline institutional operations, and bolster SPI’s commitment to producing defense-ready candidates.
The selected officer brings a wealth of military experience and leadership acumen, which is expected to inspire cadets and reinforce discipline and values that SPI stands for.
