Laddha Kothi: In a major step towards modernizing the state police force, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday inaugurated and dedicated 508 new high-tech Bolero Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) under the Dial-112 quick response system at Laddha Kothi, Dhuri. The event was attended by DGP Gaurav Yadav, senior police officials, and administrative representatives.

Faster Police Response Times

With the addition of these advanced vehicles, police response times in emergency situations have drastically reduced. Previously, responding to calls on the 112 helpline took 30–45 minutes, which has now come down to just 13–14 minutes. CM Mann emphasized that the new ERVs will ensure victims receive timely assistance, making law enforcement more effective and strengthening public trust.

He further highlighted that with these vehicles, police will now reach emergency locations within 6–7 minutes, compared to the earlier 12–13 minutes, making the state’s law and order system faster and more efficient.

Investment in Police Modernization

CM Mann noted that over the last four years, the Punjab government has allocated ₹327.69 crore to upgrade the police vehicle fleet. He said, “We are leaving no stone unturned to modernize the Punjab Police, enhance their technical capabilities, and ensure citizens’ safety.”

DGP Gaurav Yadav expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and highlighted that the modern ERVs will enhance operational efficiency, enabling rapid response in emergencies and better public service.

Road Safety and Employment Achievements

CM Mann also mentioned the positive impact of the State Road Safety Force (SSF), which has contributed to a 48% reduction in road accident fatalities. In addition, the government has provided 12,197 jobs in the police department, reinforcing its commitment to a safe and drug-free Punjab.

He underlined that the inclusion of these advanced vehicles is part of the government’s vision to make Punjab Police one of the most effective and technologically advanced forces in India.

Strengthening Public Safety

The Chief Minister assured that these quick response vehicles will not only help in crime control but also enhance citizens’ sense of safety across the state. The vehicles, equipped with modern technology, will allow the police to respond swiftly to emergencies and provide timely assistance to the public, ensuring a safer Punjab for all.

About Punjab Police ERVs

The newly inducted Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) are part of the Dial-112 system, designed to provide rapid assistance during emergencies, including crime, accidents, and medical distress. With this initiative, Punjab Police is now equipped to offer faster, more effective services to citizens across the state.
