Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh: Suspended IPS officer and former Director-General of Intelligence, P. Sitarama Anjaneyulu (1992 batch), has been shifted to Vijayawada Central Jail after being questioned for two days by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the harassment case involving Bollywood actress Kadambari Jethwani.
The senior police officer, who was arrested on April 21 from his residence in Hyderabad, is Accused No. 2 in the case. The CID interrogated him in the presence of his legal counsel over allegations that he orchestrated the registration of a false case against the actress and her family in February 2024 through the Ibrahimpatnam police.
During the two-day interrogation, investigators pressed Anjaneyulu on multiple points, including his reasons for interfering in the case, any external pressures he may have faced, and his communications with Accused No. 1, Kukkala Vidyasagar, at the NTR Police Commissionerate. He was also questioned about the circumstances under which the actress and her family were allegedly detained in a hotel even after securing bail.
Following the completion of the permitted police custody, the CID produced the officer before court, which ordered judicial remand. Anjaneyulu was then shifted to Vijayawada Jail.
The case continues to raise serious questions about misuse of official authority, and the CID is expected to summon more individuals connected to the investigation in the coming days.
