CHENNAI: Two Group I officers from Tamil Nadu have been promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre, according to an official order issued by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The officers promoted are F Abdul Razick, who has been serving as Additional Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, and V Nallasivan, currently Additional Inspector General in the Registration Department.
Tamil Nadu IAS promotion 2024: Promotions Through State Services
While IAS positions are predominantly filled through direct recruitment, officers from State Civil Services are also inducted into the IAS based on seniority and merit.
In line with this procedure, Abdul Razick and Nallasivan have been promoted against the 2024 IAS select list and have been allocated to the Tamil Nadu cadre.

Both officers belong to Group I services, a top-tier category in the Tamil Nadu State Civil Services.
- F Abdul Razick has extensive experience in rural development and has also served as Personal Assistant to Minister I Periyasamy.
- V Nallasivan has been serving in the Registration Department and has held significant administrative responsibilities there.
Their promotions highlight the pathway for State Service officers to reach the IAS through performance and seniority.
