The Telangana government on Wednesday informed the High Court that it has set up a three-member IAS committee to probe the alleged illegal sale of 103 acres of Bhoodan land in Nagaram village, Rangareddy district. The panel includes senior IAS officers Navin Mittal, Raghunandan Rao, and Shashanka, according to a government memo submitted to a bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara.
The committee is tasked with reviewing all related records and documentation concerning the disputed land, located under survey numbers 181 and 182. The panel is expected to submit its findings to the court within three weeks. Allegations that private individuals used forged documents to sell the land triggered inquiries by multiple agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate, which questioned former Rangareddy Collector D. Amoy Kumar and other officials.
Simultaneously, the Bhoodan Yagna Board launched its own investigation, prompting the district administration to cancel pattadar passbooks issued to a private firm. The issue reached the High Court after the land’s legal heirs challenged a single judge’s ruling in a writ appeal.
